Openbox S9 HD PVR Satellite Receiver arrives in the UK
The Openbox S9 is similar to the Dreambox 800HD in features and in operation, it also has an excellent HDTV picture quality! Unlike its Dreambox cousin the Openbox doesn't having any cooling issues due to its internal design and structure. It is literally one of the coolest HD receivers on the market! Stringent testing shows that even after 15 hours of constant use the box never exceeds the ambient room temperature.
The Openbox S9 HD offers the users excellent features such as recording PVR functions provided by the USB port. Users can pause and rewind live TV using their Openbox Remote Control providing they have connected a suitable external HDD or USB pen drive. Also provided is an MP3 player and Image viewer.
The Openbox S9 offers excellent video and audio results at an extremely affordable price. It is currently nearly half the price of the Dreambox DM800! The Openbox is made from high quality components similar to that of HD receivers on the market that are currently sold for nearly three times the price!
All Openbox S9 HD receivers come supplied with the factory standard Free to Air version software. Users need sufficient knowledge of how to program Openboxes to receive extra features such as Video Streaming.
The receiver has the facility to scan all the channels automatically. It is very user friendly. New channels and new ATP can be auto Detected. It can store up to 5000 channels. It also has OSD teleset and subtitle reports to generate too. We can also make our favourite channels group to a limit of 5 per 100 channels. All the channels can be sorted in alphabetical order. There are facilities like parental lock too. Manual and automatic scanning of the channels is also possible in this device. Timer functioning is possible too. Can an old satellite receiver be used to get SDTV?
I notice old satellite receivers have an option to watch SDTV when the satellite is down. I would just like to experiment with SDTV, and I don't want to buy a new TV to do it. Can I use a box without programming to get SDTV to my regular TV?
What do you mean by SDTV? If the satellite is down, you won't get any TV, including SDTV from the satellite. I think what you mean is broadcast TV, and many satellite receivers have inputs for a broadcast-receiving antenna. If you want to get TV (of any kind) when the satellite is down, you will need to put up an antenna (you may get by with an indoor antenna if you are close enough to the stations' transmitters). The receiver should allow you to switch to (or select) the antenna signals.
