About the Author

Processors ghz output?

I have an AMD phenom 9550 quad core processor, with a 2.2 ghz output level. However, games like counter strike and whatnot recomend up to 3.0 ghz. Im a bit new to quad cores, so is 2.2 the true output level, or do the 4 cores work together to produce 8.8, or how does it work? I'm just a bit curious on it.

It is almost meaningless to compare GHz values across CPU lines. The 3.0GHz recommendation only applies to the P4 line. It does not apply to the Core 2 line or any AMD CPU lines. Your 9550 would beat the pants of an old 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 from 2003, so no worries.
