Vu+ Duo - Another Impressive HD Twin Tuner Receiver on the Market
Similar to the Dreambox DM800 in features the Vu+ Duo has the added benefit of having two DVB-S/ S2 tuners that allow the user to record and pause live TV on one channel, whilst watching another.
Firmware Setup
The Vu+ Duo comes supplied with factory standard Enigma 2 firmware. This firmware is upgradeable by the user. Software is available in the form of a 'patch' file that is created by well known Linux developers such as Open PLi and Dream-Elite. User can update their Vu Plus Duo using a USB pen drive, or using an FTP client on a Personal computer connected to the internet. As soon as the box boots up the user is guided through a series of 'wizards' that aid functions such as: - tuner setup, parental control, language settings and scanning options. All units support Conax Conditional Access (CA) system, with software emulated CA Modules (CAMs) available for many different CA systems. The Ethernet port and interface allows the receiver to connect over a network. Users then can access recordings on the Vu Plus Duo receiver. This feature also enables the receiver to store digital copies of MPEG encodes streams on a networked file system or broadcast the streams as IPTV to VideoLAN / XBMC Media Center clients.
DiSEqC Settings
The DiSeqC capabilities of the Vu Plus Duo are excellent! Not only does the receiver supports version 1.2 but also 1.0 and USALS. The user can easily setup the receiver to access multiple broadcasts using a motorised satellite dish system. Multiple satellites are already stored in the menu for the receiver and users can select the appropriate satellite from the list and the motor can move to this selected satellite.
Receiver Appearance
The receiver measures 380mm x 60mm x 280mm; that makes it considerably larger than the Dreambox HD Linux receiver. Its size means that it is kept extremely cool. Testing has shown that even after 11 hours of constant use, the receivers hardware barely runs over the ambient room temperature.
The facia of the Vu+ Duo is very unique and recognizable. It has a 16 character florescent display and a circular dial switch that rotates. Positioned to the right of the display is a fold down flap that conceals two CI slots, one USB port and two card reader slots. The Vu+ Duo also has two LNB inputs for the Twin Tuner. On the back of the receiver there is a HDMI slot supporting resolutions up to 1080i. There are also two SCART sockets, one for TV and one for a VCR connection. Also on the Vu Duos' back panel there is an eSATA port, two extra USB slots, an Ethernet port and an RS232 port. The Vu+ Duo's smartcard readers also support CONAX and Xcrypt.
Summary
The Vu+ Duo is one of the best HD receivers currently on the market. It has plenty of third-party support from many open-source developers. The sound and picture quality is excellent. To top this off the receiver is nearly half the price of current twin-tuner competitors (prices start from around £360 (450 Euros). The Dreambox 8000HD currently sells for a whopping £860+!

Is it possible to receive both linear and circular polarity with the same lnb?
Assume 2 diffrent satellites are located at the same orbit possitions lets say 26 degrees east and their beam is focused to the country you live(you can receive both signals of the satellites). but the channells of one satellite is of linear polarity(vertical and horizontal) and the other satellite is of circuler polarities(right and left). Is is possible to receive all the channells from both satellites with one dish pointed in one direction? What should you do to the LNB?
Both satellites are of C-band
Yes check out this page http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Invacom/Invacom-QPH-031-Quad-lnbf.htm
The lnb has 4 outputs. 2 linear and 2 Circular. Not sure of the size of dish that you will need though.
