Distributing Video Over Cat5

Panasonic KX-TG6502B 5.8 GHz 2 Line Cordless Phone 2nd Line Problem?

Panasonic KX-TG6502B 5.8 GHz DSS Expandable 2-Line Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Black)

I have this type of phone -- 1 cordless handset that sits in the base station and 1 cordless handset that sits in the substation.

The problem is that the 2nd line (I have 2 separate phone lines in the house) does not have a dial tone on either cordless phone, cannot be called out / dialed out from, and is lit up all the time on the base station.
BUT when I go to a corded phone in the house and pick up the 2nd line, I get a dial tone and can call out no problem.
Also, I believe that when I pick up the cordless phone it defaults to the 2nd line until I hit the button for the 1st line on the cordless phone.
The jacks for the cordless phones have always been 2 line jacks.
The phone lines from the base station / sub station are 2 line lines.
And the phones have worked fine as 2 line phones in those jacks for at least 2 years.
So that is not the problem.

have you plugged your corded 2 line phone into the jack that the cordless bass is connected to? it is possible that the jack is not wired for 2 lines....

check the line cord for the cordless phone... there should be 4 pins at the tip that plugs into the jack/phone... if there are only 2 pins then the cord is only for a single line...
